Role Purpose

As our Backend Developer, you will architect, optimize, and maintain the server-side logic, API layers, databases, and third-party integrations powering the Ecofamilies platform ecosystem. Your primary challenge will be translating structural platform growth into reliable, low-latency, and highly secure backend software components, driving both high-throughput marketplace processing and community engagement modules.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & API Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, robust, and clean server-side application logic using modern backend languages (Node.js/Python/Go or equivalent modern stacks). Build out high-performance, well-documented RESTful and GraphQL API pipelines to serve responsive mobile and desktop client interfaces.
• Database & Data Infrastructure: Architect, index, and optimize relational and non-relational database layers (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis). Build and fine-tune caching systems, intricate data pipelines, and search query frameworks to minimize request-response latencies during high concurrency traffic periods.
• Marketplace & Platform Integrations: Develop and implement secure digital payment gateway workflows (Stripe, PayPal API fabrics), multi-vendor transaction logic, automated split-payout loops, and programmatic subscription management structures to support our commercial monetization branches.
• System Compliance, Security & Performance: Enforce ironclad data protection layers matching UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 standards. Set up OAuth2, JWT mechanisms, role-based access control profiles, continuous security auditing loops, and proactive error logging systems to actively prevent system threats or data breaches.
• DevOps & CI/CD Pipelines: Manage cloud infrastructure environments (AWS/GCP), orchestrate container deployments via Docker or Kubernetes, and construct robust automated continuous integration and automated deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to maintain high runtime uptime markers.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements & Technical Profile

• Technical Expertise: Proven experience (3+ years) working in a professional backend software engineering tier focused on production-grade B2C/B2B platforms or high-volume marketplace solutions.
• Core Language Proficiencies: Deep framework and programming mastery in Node.js (TypeScript), Python (Django/FastAPI), or Go ecosystem components.
• Data Operations: Strong practical background working across PostgreSQL/MySQL schemas, NoSQL document sets, caching mechanics, and complex relational transaction management scenarios.
• Cloud Architecture: Familiarity deployment structures with cloud operators, containerization pipelines (Docker), and structural serverless computing components.
• Regulatory Focus: Clear awareness of secure coding paradigms, data mapping principles, encryption keys, and alignment targets mirroring UK GDPR rules.
• Location Criteria: Must possess full, valid Right to Work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorships at this current recruitment window.
